After 16 years in the corporate world I decided to grab for the “American Dream” of owning my own business. While working in the fast-paced staffing industry, clients shared their time-management frustration with me saying things such as, “I need help that doesn’t require a full or part-time employee”. And when a position was placed for the client, “You did such a fantastic job finding me help to organize my workload. I wish you could do that in my personal life.” From this kind of feedback the idea for Metropolis P.A. (Personal Assistant) was born. Everyone seems to be expressing the same problem as they struggle to “do it all”. Metropolis P.A. provides both personal and professional concierge services to people and businesses in the Des Moines area to help them maximize their most precious asset, time.
In these days of cutthroat competitive business, acquiring and maintaining clients continues to be challenge. Ultimately customers tend to purchase services from those individuals they are comfortable with. A personal rapport makes the difference. For example, one Metropolis customer wanted to demonstrate excellence in service and friendship to a prospect that was very ill. Metropolis P.A. was hired to deliver homemade chicken soup for several days at lunchtime to this potential client. It was a simple yet caring gesture that truly made a positive statement to the prospect. Anyone can send flowers and get-well wishes, (and some situations may still call for that). This approach though was unique and personalized and left a lasting impression in the potential client’s mind. It told them something about the type of people that they would do business with; creative, thoughtful, and thinking outside the box. The account was secured.
As individuals we don’t seem to place a “value” on our time unless we are in a billable industry. We don’t look at the accumulation of time that we spend, doing things that we really don’t have to do ourselves. When you break down how much time and money we really spend in the process of everyday responsibilities and chores, we see how quickly it adds up. Metropolis is the first concierge service of its kind here in the Des Moines area leading the way in educating customers and prospects about the many uses of a personal assistant.
