November 17, central Iowa unchained Jolly Good!!!

Unchained_poster About now we are making our way around parts of the UK so I can't be in Des Moines to hand out posters to locally owned merchants. I'm placing out a plea for help. If you are of a mind to do so, would you please print or email a few of the posters and pass them along to your favorite local interest? It would be great to see stores everywhere showing support for Central Iowa Unchained. We'll sing your praises to the Queen!

HALO Capital

Halo_logo_2

HALO Capital is a division of The HALO Group, Inc., an Iowa corporation, that works with individuals to find financing for the purchase or refinance of real estate anywhere in Iowa.I started this company in order to provide a critical service where there appears to be a rather large void.  There are so many lenders available and a ton of paperwork to fill out that sometimes the process of buying or refinancing a home becomes unbearable.  I provide the type of solution that many are looking for: No sales, no obligation, NO STRESS!  Ask a banker if he will meet you at your local coffee shop and go over the loan package with you....I will!  HALO Capital is a mortgage business that is focused on people, not the other way around.

I will offer a free and "no hassle" consultation, as well as 10% of  any transaction will be donated to a local charity of the customer's choice from the company's proceeds.  That is how serious we are about helping people and paying it forward.

#29 Leesa Barnes talks about Podcasting and Profit

Leesabarns I love podcasting so I was naturally attracted to Leesa Barnes who is a podcast expert. She just published a new book called Podcasting for Profit that we talk about, and shares some highlights of her strategies to maximize the value of podcasting.

Based out of Ontario, Leesa has built her credibilty as an expert both nationally and internationally. She is authentic and warm in telling her story of building a successful business. If you like to know that someone has been "there and done that" you'll enjoy her personal experience.

There is quit a bit of "bang" here for your listening pleasure.

Buycincy_2 Isn't it strange when things come in bunches? I feel like I've been sort of blog silent a bit lately. It happens when I'm writing the newsletter. I kind of go into a production hole and then I sort of resurface. Anyway, with the newsletter out I've emerged from under and found another like-minded soul. Check out what Sean Fisher and Kurt Myers are doing in Cincinnati to inspire people to buy local there.

Wake Up to Indianola!

Clock Iowa is especially beautiful in the fall so the drive to and from Indianola was a pleasure. I made several trips, met some terrific people, and learned a few things about the local economy. As the song goes "To everything there is a season" and so this bedroom community is busy dealing with the season of change. The great news is that many are stepping up to the challenges and making things happen.

In this newsletter we highlight some of these small business owners who are all dsmBUZZ merchant participants! Thanks to them for contributing to the message "buy locally owned."

Unchained Central Iowa - November 17, 2007

Unchainged_america November 17, 2007 is Central Iowa Unchained day! This is a part of the National Unchained America day sponsored by American Independent Business Alliance.

If every consumer makes all purchases to locally owned businesses, the community will keep 45% of the revenue in the state.

Try the math...in Polk County on one day of November 2006, sales revenue was approximately $18,901,196. If all the revenue came from sales at chains then only 13% would stay in the community which amounts to $2,457,155.

On the other hand, if all purchases are made at locally owned businesses the community keeps $8,505,538. Can that make a difference in our state? Try it for November 17 all day locally owned!

Please help pass on the message to anyone you think would be interested in promoting Unchained Central Iowa on November 17, 2007!

Royal Delivery an interview with Deb Gunn

Trucks It seems appropriate to be discussing the transport of product today. If you looked at the headlines then you know the price of a barrel of oil is up to record highs. That's just the beginning when you determine the cost of shipping products. Deb Gunn talks about having to factor in these changes in addition to the other expenses and concerns of her business called Royal Delivery.

It sounds daunting to me but she explains why she loves it and why they are successfully serving Iowa customers with same-day delivery and expanding to transport goods across the U.S.

Whether you're considering the transport business yourself or looking for a reliable delivery service provider for your business needs, you'll find Deb's information to be very useful.
