Indianola - drops the ball

Discoball I've heard word that we need not fly to New York to celebrate the new year in high fashion. Indianola will be featuring a ball dropping New Year's Eve event scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on December 31.

Some of the highlighted features of this evening include the gifting of 30 or so Iowa Star Hockey tickets, an ice sculpture, and soccer set up on the street for public play. If living with gusto and being with community are your things to do to ring in 2008 this could be just the place for you!

Can you guess the businesses in Beaverdale?

Winter 2007 issue

Usatbeaverdale_2 I'd like to take credit for getting in the newsletter groove by now with this issue of Small Business Buzz. And though it may be true that I've improved my interview and writing skills, I also must give credit and thanks to the very generous and friendly merchants of Beaverdale for making the process such a pleasure! Each stepped up to promoting the importance of buying locally owned and honored my time and offered enthusiasm. Enjoy meeting these people. They're terrific.

Powerfull Living an interview with Lorraine Cohen

Lorrainecohen_2I was a bit of a frazzled today as I headed into the podcast of Entrepreneur People. If you live in the Midwest then you already know we were dealing with a world covered in ice and power outages. My house was without power so I slid my way to a place with electricity in haste after removing a thick sheet of ice off my car. I definitely was not feeling relaxed or focused.

It was a nice bonus to speak with life coach Lorraine Cohen of Powerfull Living about her business. Not only did she share some of the exciting offerings she has available, she also spoke in this very soothing voice that brought my personal anxiety down a notch or two. Check out Lorraine's blog and the number of resources available on her site.

If you need a little mental respite or have questions about life coaching this is an informative interview.
